Ms. Katie Cofer

“I have over 10 years' experience in assisting clients with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, intimacy and relationship problems, and blocks to creativity. These issues often result from limiting beliefs and self-protective mechanisms stemming from childhood wounding. My Mind/Body approach integrates talk therapy, body awareness and mindfulness, and expressive arts work to explore the restrictive emotional, mental and physical patterns that have developed out of these old wounds. My aim is to empower clients to overcome these obstacles, to identify goals and teach new perspectives and skills, and to foster greater aliveness, self-expression, and fulfillment.

My special areas of focus are depression, anxiety, and trauma. Besides body awareness, I use mindfulness as a skill for emotion regulation and to access the unconscious. I also use EMDR and the Hakomi Method and am particularly interested in bicultural clients, and in helping clients to develop greater self-expression.

I believe that crisis and trauma can be opportunities to unlock our fullest potential. I am fortunate to be able to bring so many of my passions, such as yoga and the arts, into my work, and feel immeasurably enriched by our joint efforts toward healing and growth.”
